Review: Suisai Beauty Clear Powder Wash N

Kanebo Cosmetics is behind this popular Japanese drugstore enzyme-contained powder cleanser. Suisai Beauty Clear Powder Wash N is the newest from their 57-year history of enzyme facial washes. It recently won as the best face wash of 2020 according to Japan’s largest comprehensive cosmetics and beauty site, @cosme. This is the reason why I was so curious about it. If you’ve heard about this and been thinking about trying it out, this review will help you decide on that.

Last month, I had the chance to visit a drugstore that carries this product. It’s not available at the nearby drugstore so I bought the regular size instead of the trial kit. I used the very last cube yesterday so I’m definitely ready to share my thoughts.

  1. This newly improved powder cleanser contains 2 new ingredients: ethyl glucoside functions as skin-conditioning agent and sodium hyaluronate works to enhance the skin’s natural suppleness.
  2. Also contains amino acid-based cleansing ingredients that help leaves the skin hydrated as it protects moisture while washing the skin.
  3. Removes blackheads and keratotic plugs (skin bumps).
  4. Evens out roughness.
  5. Regular size: 32 capsules / Trial size: 15 capsules

Wet the face and hands beforehand. Take a single portion (1 capsule) of powder on your palm and lather it with a small amount of cold or lukewarm water before applying to the skin. Massage onto the skin and wash off. For best results, use twice daily.

  1. The packaging is not just for cuteness and fun, it’s scientifically designed to help keep the enzymes stable in addition to Kanebo’s developed technology for silk-coating enzymes based on its silk processing technology. Enzymes become less active under high humidity and temperature conditions, they need to be stabilized in order to remain effective for a long time that’s why they came up with such smart design.
  2. Fragrance-free
  3. Lathers up quickly using your bare hands.
  4. My skin feels squeaky clean without feeling tight and itchy.
  5. It doesn’t cause acne.
  6. Perfect for traveling, packaging wise.
  7. I’ve noticed that my skin feels a little less rough these days. Just to be fair, I use this along with my other skincare products so I can’t pinpoint the product that makes my skin feel this way. It could be only because of this little one or the others or all of them. Nevertheless, this cleanser does a good job in terms of cleansing my face.

  1. It’s definitely on the expensive side for a small-sized drugstore product.
  2. I have visible blackheads around my nose. This product didn’t do much after religiously using it twice a day for more or less 15 days. Here’s a photo to prove that. I tried to make it as clear as possible but sorry for the image quality.

suisai beauty clear powder wash review

Perhaps, with continued use there will be visible improvements in this department. That might not be achievable for me as I’m planning to only use this again when I’m traveling. At the moment, I’m using a new cleanser from the same brand. Please keep an out for my review on that.

If you don’t mind spending so much on this cute one, it won’t hurt to give it a try. What do you think of this Japanese beauty invention?
