It’s truly overwhelming to live in a country that’s way too different from your motherland. Japan isn’t an exception. Living here would be a noteworthy experience one could ever have. Whatever reason you have for making Japan as your second home, it’s a great relief to know that there are legal ways to earn a little money on the side. Based on my experience, these are the ways to do it.

- LINE POINTS

If you already are a user of the app, the next thing you need to do is use their Line Pay service wherein you’ll be issued with a prepaid card. Use it as a payment method at any stores/ restaurants that accept cards. Every payment made through the card has equivalent points. Then you can convert the points to money and be added to your balance. You do that via the app. You also do the top-up through the app. Yes, Line isn’t just a communication app now. Curious what the prepaid card looks like?

2. ONLINE SURVEYS / PRODUCT TESTING
I have tried a bunch of sites but none of them seemed to work except for E-gaikokujin Recruiting. Know that you won’t receive surveys that you can participate every single day. However, once you get the chance you’ll definitely be merry. How can you not be pleased when you can receive up to 6,000 worth of Quo cards (sometimes more depending on the clients)? FYI: A Quo card is a prepaid card that can be used at stores/restaurants that accept such card. You can see the amount printed on the card.

On occasion, the site offers on-site testings and be paid in cash right after the event.
3. ENGLISH CLASS MATCHING SITES
This is the only site that I recommend because it’s where I first had an actual Japanese student. I just want to remind you to be cautious about choosing and meeting “students”. This site isn’t responsible for your safety. In my case, before I meet them for the lesson I ask them to send a valid ID and a recent photo and give them a friendly and clear explanation as to why I do it. See? I’m still alive! LOL In addition, you can request a video call prior to your meeting.
4. POINT CARDS

You probably have similar cards back home. I don’t know about you, but these are gems to me now that I’m living in a place where (almost) everything’s pricey. I’ve developed a note to myself that says “Every cent counts.” As much as possible, avail point cards from stores/cinemas that you frequent.
