Review: L’Oréal Paris Rouge Signature Lipstick

Review: L’Oréal Paris Rouge Signature Lipstick

Choosing the right type of lipstick for dry and hyperpigmented lips can be daunting sometimes at least for me. Also, the color shouldn’t just match my skintone but should also conceal the dark parts of my lips. Is this liquid ink right for me? Read on!

loreal paris rouge signature lipstick review
Color: 116 Beige Brown, Price: 1,980 Japanese Yen
I bought this at Don Quijote, the biggest discount store in Japan.

FEATURES

  1. The brand’s most lightweight ink that delivers intense pigment with a weightless, bare-lip sensation that’s 2X as thin as lipstick.
  2. This ultra-comfortable liquid lip ink provides lasting matte color and infuses lips with an even dye of color.
  3. Delivers the no makeup feel of a stain combined with the colour impact of a liquid lipstick.
  4. Non-drying formula

PROS

  1. Nice packaging. Doesn’t get easily dirty.
  2. Smells like chocolate.
  3. The color is pretty. Totally matches my skin tone. Conceals the dark parts of my lips a bit.
  4. Its applicator has an end that makes it easy to apply on the lips.
  5. Truly lightweight and the shade is pigmented enough for me. Not sticky at all.
  6. Can be applied on top of a lip balm which is quite the opposite of my previous liquid lipstick.
  7. Smooth and matte finish
  8. Lasts a decent amount of time (if I don’t eat anything oily.)

CONS

  1. I need to retouch with a lip balm as it appears a little dry later on.
  2. It’s not transfer proof.
  3. The color tends to fade if I eat something oily.

Overall, I’d say I prefer this product’s formula to my previous one. Maybe I’ll try a few other colors. Have you tried this? What do you think about it?

Review: Shiseido Integrate Gracy Control Base (Green)

Review: Shiseido Integrate Gracy Control Base (Green)

Integrate Gracy is a brand created by one of the oldest cosmetics companies in the world, Shiseido. It belongs to the budget friendly side. This brand is a collection of natural looking and easy to apply makeup products perfect for adults who are always on the go.

I purchased this color control prime base when I was still teaching English as a part-time job a few years back here in Japan. I remember it was around that time that I had redness all over my cheeks. Back then, I was physically, mentally, and emotionally adjusting to the new environment. It reflected on my skin. This product is almost forgotten. Luckily, I found this while decluttering my vanity table last Friday. The experience I had with this is still fresh, though. So I can assure you that this review proves fairness. Let’s get on with it!

Features

  1. An unscented moisturizing makeup base that helps filter uneven skin tone. Apply before foundation.
  2. Prevents makeup loss and maintains a beautiful finish.
  3. Covers redness and acne spots.
  4. Other colors:
Natural – helps cover uneven skin
Pink – covers yellowness & dullness, gives a healthy glow

25g, 900 yen (excluding tax)
Available at local drugstores/ cosme shops (Got mine at Matsumoto Kiyoshi.)

PROS

  1. Contains beauty essences hyaluronic acid and glycerine for skin nourishment.
  2. Has SPF 15 PA +
  3. Functional packaging
  4. A bit creamy but slides smoothly
  5. Safe for acne-prone skin

CONS

  1. Even if I only use a little of the product, it still creases. It settles on my large pores. Take note, it happens prior to applying foundation.
  2. It doesn’t really cover the redness on my cheeks.

I guess, this works better on someone who has less problematic and lighter skin. Just because it didn’t work on doesn’t mean I wouldn’t recommend it. Maybe it’s just me. That time my skin was super oily and I was still learning things related to skincare. I’ve tried it again once recently, but it still didn’t cover the redness. It made me decide to completely abandon it. The search is still on.

What color corrector do you recommend for redness?

Review: LB Sparkling Rich Shadow

Review: LB Sparkling Rich Shadow

First off, let me just say that applying makeup isn’t really my area of expertise. Thanks to the makeup tutorials on Youtube, I’ve learned a lot. I like to put on a little makeup when I’m in the mood. Also with a spot of makeup, I can disguise some minor imperfections. And when it comes to buying cosmetics, I don’t really fritter so much money away on expensive ones. Lucky me, I found this pretty but budget-friendly eye shadow palette sitting around the cosme rack in Don Quijote.

This was released last September of 2019. I purchased this sometime in November, probably. Keep reading if you want to know if it’s worth buying or not.

FEATURES

  1. An eye shadow palette that combines eye base and three colors of powder with different textures of cream, lame, pearl, and matte (see image below).
  2. The creamy eyeshadow base improves the color and durability of powder with a smooth finish.
  3. The lame/ sparkle color is fully packed with lustrous pearls and LB’s unique sparkle lame.
  4. The pearl/ main color has fine pearls and can be used as a single color.
  5. The matte/ shade color is highly pigmented and can enhance your eyes naturally without an eyeliner.
  6. Color: SR-3 (Sepia Brown), 1,200 yen (excluding tax)
  7. Other colors: SR-1 (Natural Beige), SR-2 (Terracotta), SR-4 (Grayish Purple)

PROS

  1. Comes with a mirrored case and a double-sided applicator
  2. Convenient to carry
  3. Simple and functional case with a box that has an application tutorial
  4. Easy to apply and blend
  5. You can create different looks using any of the colors. My go-to look is just a simple one using one or 2 colors.
  6. The colors are nice on the skin and long-lasting.
  7. No scent
  8. Not dusty looking
  9. Not messy to apply

CONS

None

I’m concluding this review by saying that this has been my favorite so far. Obviously, I’d recommend it especially to someone who has just entered the makeup world.
