A big thank you to those who have been with me since the beginning. From My Korean Lover to Thoughts of SheryL, you’ve stayed through my transitions. I know some of you are inactive in the blogosphere now but I truly appreciate the times we had as budding bloggers. I hope you will come back. And to those who are still here, I hope you won’t give up on me now. I think this will be my final modification. Why change the name? You may ask.

I just wanted to make it welcoming. Something that doesn’t give out my name but still represents who I really am. I’ve been thinking about it for quite some time and now it’s finally done. The new name may also suggest new beginnings. Who knows what my mind will make me do next time. lol

You can read a little more details about the new name if you go check out my About page. With the new name comes a new site logo of course (featured image). I made it by myself. I went really simple this time as it represents how I want to live a simple life.

Coconuts offer a number of health benefits and can be used in many different ways. Getting fresh coconut isn’t hard to do in my motherland. It’s funny how I have to pay more for a pack when back home I could get them for a very cheap price or even for free on a lucky day. I wanted to try some coconut macaroons so I went ahead and purchased this brand on Amazon Japan. There were lots of positive feedbacks so I opted for this particular brand.

FEATURES

  1. 100% coconut
  2. No artificial flavors, colors, preservatives
  3. GMO-free
  4. Vegan friendly

PROS

  1. Shredded into bite size
  2. Smells and tastes like real coconut
  3. No sugary flavor

CONS

  1. A bit hard in texture (maybe because it’s the dried type)
  2. Not suitable for snacking for me because it’s a bit hard to chew
  3. A bit pricey

Here’s a photo of my coconut macaroons using this brand. I really loved the flavor. The only thing that I would love for this brand to improve (if possible) is the texture. It was a bit hard to chew. Because of that, I won’t repurchase.

Chocolate chips are a staple ingredient in a variety of baked goods. Finding a brand that ensures quality and great flavor can be a bit of a battle. If you’re still searching for the perfect chocolate chips for your desserts, you might want to have a look at this brief review.

I found this bag of gem at Costco just less than an hour drive away from our place. I can’t remember the exact price right now but I’m pretty sure it’s reasonable. The chips are bigger than those in the supermarket.

FEATURES

  1. Made with ethical and sustainable cocoa
  2. Contains milk and soy
  3. Great for baking and snacking

    INGREDIENTS:
    Sugar, chocolate liquor, milkfat, cocoa butter, soy lecithin, and natural flavorings

I’ve incorporated these chocolate morsels into a number of desserts I’ve made many times since I got them. So here are my unbiased points.

PROS

  1. Packaging is practical.
  2. Flavor is just to my liking. Truly semi-sweet.
  3. They really go well with any desserts.
  4. Truly great for snacking as well.

CONS

  1. Not gluten-free
  2. Can’t find it elsewhere other than Costco. Can be bought online but at an excessive price.

Here’s a photo of my coconut cupcakes topped with these very chocolate chips. I made these a little over a week ago and I was satisfied with how they turned out. Just the right level of sweetness. The chocolate chips were like treats on top of a treat.

I highly recommend this brand. Truly a value for money.
