Welcome to The Pinay Ajumma!

I’m delighted that you’ve found your way to my blog, where I share my experiences and insights as a Pinay (a colloquial term for a Filipina) who happens to be married to a wonderful Korean man. So I’d like to think of myself as an ajumma (a Korean term for a married woman or a middle-aged lady). Together, we’ve built a life here in the Land of the Rising Sun, and through this blog, I aim to give you a glimpse into the unique blend of cultures, traditions, and adventures that make up my daily life.

Living in a multicultural household has taught me the importance of embracing diversity and finding common ground in our differences. I believe that love knows no boundaries, and my marriage to my Korean husband has opened my eyes to new perspectives, customs, and traditions that I eagerly share with my readers.

On this blog, you can expect to find a variety of topics, including travel adventures, cultural experiences, language learning tips, marriage and family insights, product reviews and so much more.

I invite you to join me on this adventure as we explore the intersections of cultures and celebrate the richness they bring to our lives. I encourage you to engage with the content, leave comments, and share your own stories and perspectives. This blog is a community, and I believe that the most beautiful conversations happen when we come together and learn from one another.

Thank you for being here, and I hope that The Pinay Ajumma becomes a place that you enjoy visiting time and time again. Let’s embark on this journey of cultural exploration, learning, and growth together.

With love and gratitude,
Sheryl Gim

  1. Hello! I had watched episode 1 of “When The Camellia Blooms” and I really enjoyed it. Thanks, again, for the recommendation. 🙂

      1. I looked up Mr. Sunshine on Netflix and realized that I like Korean Dramas that are “slice of life” (the type of genre in mangas). I have no idea what genre it is called in Korean so I used that saying to describe my taste. 😙
