Chocolate chips are a staple ingredient in a variety of baked goods. Finding a brand that ensures quality and great flavor can be a bit of a battle. If you’re still searching for the perfect chocolate chips for your desserts, you might want to have a look at this brief review.
I found this bag of gem at Costco just less than an hour drive away from our place. I can’t remember the exact price right now but I’m pretty sure it’s reasonable. The chips are bigger than those in the supermarket.

FEATURES
- Made with ethical and sustainable cocoa
- Contains milk and soy
- Great for baking and snacking
- Made by Costco
- Made in USA
INGREDIENTS:
Sugar, chocolate liquor, milkfat, cocoa butter, soy lecithin, and natural flavorings
I’ve incorporated these chocolate morsels into a number of desserts I’ve made many times since I got them. So here are my unbiased points.
PROS
- Packaging is practical.
- Flavor is just to my liking. Truly semi-sweet.
- They really go well with any desserts.
- Truly great for snacking as well.
CONS
- Not gluten-free
- Can’t find it elsewhere other than Costco. Can be bought online but at an excessive price.
Here’s a photo of my coconut cupcakes topped with these very chocolate chips. I made these a little over a week ago and I was satisfied with how they turned out. Just the right level of sweetness. The chocolate chips were like treats on top of a treat.

I highly recommend this brand. Truly a value for money.

Oh boy, your muffins look tasty! My very favorite brand is Jiffy especially the cornmeal mix. Next is Betty Crocker. Now I want to bake!

My husband and I argued over these. Muffins or cupcakes? lol They looked like muffins but the texture was like cupcakes. But they were delicious.

Oh that sounds like my husband! If I really want to keep something for myself I hide it with the cleaning stuff under my sink! Not the chemical stuff just in case you’re wondering if I’m glowing yet or not haha

I like the Costco chocolate chips. They aren’t too sweet and Kirkland brand is one of the best imo. I’ve bought these chocolate chips in the past and would like to purchase again for baking. It’s just myself and my husband (and toddler) so this large bag is a bit big for us. I could easily eat the whole thing if I’m not too careful.
I will continue to shop at Costco because I like their products. Btw I do not recommend buying their raisins since they dry out way too fast. Kirkland chocolate covered raisins are another good buy.

You’re right. Not too sweet. Better than the Japanese brand I used to buy. This bag is definitely big for me and my husband but I bake with these very often. 😀 Fortunately, these have a long shelf life when properly stored.
Yeah I like those chocolate covered raisins, too!

I am not a Costco member. I live alone. Do you think a Costco membership would work for me? If so, in what way? Just looking for some ideas.

It might be a bit hard to shop for one person. My parents had a Costco membership but they said the items were too big for them, so eventually they cancelled their membership. However, they miss the Costco Kirkland products.
Do you buy family sized products? If yes, a Costco membership could work for you. If you don’t buy oversized items, then I would suggest skipping the membership. You can get in for free if you go to Costco with a friend who has a membership. You can split the portion sized with your friend and go halfsies on items. It will save you money and you’ll still be able to enjoy the Costco products.

I think that is good advice. One of my coworkers claims that it is the best place to buy books at Christmas. I never asked him why, but I guess they have complete series, or collected works for a good price.

Your coworker has a point. The books from Costco are excellent quality and the detailing on the children’s books is often better than the ones I’ve seen elsewhere. You can usually save 50% of more on books at Costco. They also have a wide range of Christmas gifts as well!

If you like to buy things in bulk at least once a month, it’d be nice. There are things in Costco that I like to buy very often which I can’t find elsewhere. Things are a bit cheaper there, too. I know someone who is a member that goes there with a friend. They buy things and divide them in half and split the costs, too. His friend also pays half of the annual membership fee directly to him. That person I know does this strategy to spend less but have more products. You can visit their English website to sign up. Here’s the link:

I’m not affiliated with Costco in any way.
