Are Filipinos now visa-free to enter Taiwan?

LAST UPDATED: Jan. 4, 2018

Recently, an announcement has been made declaring that Philippine passport holders can enter the Republic of China (Taiwan) without a visa starting June of this year. Yay!! Who doesn’t feel good about this kind of news?

However, as I went over the official site this morning, I found out that the implementation of visa-free entry to the country mentioned above for Filipinos has been put off. As a matter of fact, it has been rescheduled to September 2017. Furthermore, whether will it be fully implemented on the said month or not, the answer is still quite uncertain. To be honest, I was a bit sad. Just a bit, not disappointed at all. I know they have the best reason to give.

Meanwhile, if you are itching to visit this interesting country, there are 4 ways to apply for a visa. Kindly click on them to read more.

The answer to the question now is YES! Thanks to the visa-free 9-month trial period that runs from November 1, 2017 until July 31, 2018. After that, my fingers are crossed and I hope this won’t be changed anymore.

  1. Sheryl: In these strange times, one can’t rely on government policies. Case in point, we were supposed to go to China years back so I could teach English, Unfortunately, my visa was ready for pickup the day after the Manila bus hostage incident. They would not allow me to get a visa here at the Chinese Embassy in the Philippines as they usually do. They wanted me to fly back to the US first. Needless to say, I declined the job offer in China.
